Today, there is an estimated population of more than 4.2 million persons living in this state. The Capital city of the State is Gombe. Daily Trust Saturday visited the town established in 1824 as the first capital of Gombe Emirate established in 1804 after the Jihad, and reports on how the historical town was neglected. The states in Nigeria inhabited by Fulani includes some areas in the North namely: Gombe is a Fulani state located in northeastern Nigeria and shares boundaries with Borno, Yobe, Taraba and Adamawa states respectively.
